Description
Hawa Mahal
Known as the 'Palace of Winds,' Hawa Mahal is a breathtaking pink sandstone monument in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Commissioned by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 and crafted by architect Lal Chand Ustad, the five-story palace boasts 953 jharokhas (small windows). These intricately carved windows allowed royal women to watch city life while staying hidden, reflecting the purdah tradition. Its honeycomb-like façade and ornate latticework make it a true architectural marvel and a symbol of Jaipur.
Jantar Mantar
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is one of the largest and best-preserved astronomical observatories in the world. Built in the early 1700s by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, it includes 19 innovative instruments designed to measure time, predict eclipses, and study celestial bodies. The highlight is the Samrat Yantra, a giant sundial that demonstrates the scientific brilliance of its time and offers precise astronomical readings.
City Palace
Situated in the heart of Jaipur, the City Palace is a grand complex built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 18th century. It showcases an exquisite fusion of Rajput, Mughal, and European architecture. The palace complex includes elegant courtyards, lush gardens, and notable structures like the Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal. Inside, you'll find museums displaying royal attire, weapons, and artifacts—offering a glimpse into the regal heritage of Jaipur’s rulers.
