Description
Drive outside of Jaipur to the UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most opulent hill forts of India, Amer Fort. Stroll through the combination of royal Rajput residences, temples, and courtyards which are laid out across multiple levels overlooking Lake Maota and the gardens. Step inside the impressive hall of mirrors, known as Sheesh Mahal or 'Diwaan-e-Khaas' and see the various gateways known as 'Pol' which make for countless photo opportunities. Mindful of ethical tourism practices, this tour does not offer elephant rides to the top of Amer Fort.
Then, stop at Panna Meena ka Kund, a traditional Rajasthani Baori (or stepwell) which is known for its symmetrical architecture and zig-zag steps. This delightful spot was made famous in the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and makes for a perfect memory of Rajasthan's incredible architecture. Choose to make a quick optional lunch break, at your own expense.
Jagat Shiromani Temple in Amer is a beautiful 16th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Meera Bai, Lord Krishna, and Lord Vishnu. Known for its intricate carvings and stunning architecture, it’s a peaceful spiritual site near Amber Fort.
