Description
Day 1 : Jaipur – Bharatpur – Fatehpur Sikri – Chand Baori.
The tour begins with an early morning pick-up from your desired location in Jaipur. You will then embark on a scenic drive towards Bharatpur, home to the renowned Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Arriving in the morning allows you to witness the best birdwatching and photography opportunities as the sanctuary comes to life with its diverse bird species.
At Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will explore the vast wetlands on a rickshaw ride. The park is home to a remarkable variety of avian species, including painted storks, egrets, ibises, spoonbills, herons, cormorants, and the majestic Sarus cranes. If you visit during the winter months, you may also spot migratory birds such as pelicans and the rare Siberian crane. As your rickshaw puller, who is well-versed in the sanctuary’s biodiversity, guides you through the trails, you will have ample opportunities to take stunning photographs of these exotic birds in their natural habitat.
After a memorable experience at Bharatpur, you will proceed towards Fatehpur Sikri, the former capital of the Mughal Empire built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century. The city, constructed primarily in red sandstone, showcases a unique blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural styles. As you walk through its grand courtyards and palaces, you will witness the intricate craftsmanship that once defined the royal Mughal court. Key attractions include the Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal, and the beautifully adorned tomb of Salim Chishti. The well-preserved ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into the past, narrating stories of the Mughal era’s grandeur and cultural fusion.
Continuing the journey, you will head towards Chand Baori, a breathtaking stepwell in the small village of Abhaneri. Built over a thousand years ago by King Chanda, this architectural marvel is one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India. Its mesmerizing geometric design, with over 3,500 symmetrically arranged steps leading down to the water, creates a stunning visual spectacle. While stepwells were traditionally constructed to store water, Chand Baori also served as a gathering place for locals. Its historical significance and intricate craftsmanship make it one of Rajasthan’s hidden treasures.
After an enriching day of exploring Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Fatehpur Sikri, and Chand Baori, you will return to Jaipur. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your preferred location, marking the end of this unforgettable journey through history, nature, and architectural brilliance.
